When it comes to a computer program, every person automatically associates it with the profession of a programmer. Computer programs are written by programmers, this is the end user explanation. In fact, different teams of software professionals take part in the production of a software, solving certain problems and doing their share of the work. Programmers are only one part of the whole picture, and they are definitely not the only ones employed by the IT company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a series of articles, we will tell you what each of the people “involved” in the production of the program does and what position they hold in the software company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Business analysts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n All software is created to solve a specific need or problem of a business or a group of end users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The first people involved in the creation of the software are the business analysts. They must know very well the operations, processes and needs of the customer for whom the program is to be created. They also need to know the capabilities of the software or the programmers so that they can describe exactly what is required of the future product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Their job is to evaluate the client’s case and decide if working software can be written for it. They are the specialists who make the connection between the world of business and the world of IT people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The customer has an idea of the end result they want to achieve. For example, he wants to press a button and see specific data and graphs. And the analysts, who know the business side of the business, look at all sides and map out all the use cases that will lead to the customer’s desired end result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Already at this first stage of analysis everything should become completely clear. If there are any procedural or scientific issues, these should be clarified by the business analysts. For example, the formulas by which interest will be calculated or how inventories will be managed should be clear. Anything that will subsequently be entered as programming code must be clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Specification<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n After a full analysis of the brief, a specification is made whereby the business people “translate into IT language” the brief so that the person or team following it can understand it and do their bit.
